About

This is the site to keep everyone posted on the Crack House.

Before you ask, yes it was a crack house.

Now it's a project.

A friend sent us the MLS listing because she thought it was funny.

In the details, well, there actually were no details, but it did mention "Alleged Crack House".  We thought it was funny too.

Then we bought it.

Possession date was October 3rd, 2006.  Within a few hours we had christened the house with wine, cheese, take-out Indian food and a few good friends.

Front shot of the new windows

Sunday 30 September 2007 at 10:43 pm

We've had the windows a month now and I still can't get over how great they look. We get compliments all the time. They are from Pollard Windows and we are happy to recommend them.

Here is the front shot (I forgot to put it in earlier) of the finished windows.

A couple of days after the windows were done, Foreman Al and Sarah came to check them out. We dined al fresco and couldn't resist a snap.

Porch Column Debate

Andreas and I can't decide between these two options for porch columns.   Andreas masterfully created two samples in Google SketchUp; I took it around the office for votes!

Another weekend, a new Garden Door!

Monday 03 September 2007 at 10:21 pm

What else is there to do on a 3-day long weekend? Lots of things come to mind, but for us, it's another outdoor project! There is only so much time left before it gets cold and rainy, so this weekend's project was to put in a garden door at the back of the house. Yes, sure it may take a professional under a day, but we allowed ourselves a full long weekend, just to be sure. As usual, there was shopping (or rather browsing) involved for much of Saturday, but come Monday afternoon, it was all in, shimmed, and foamed in place.

Here's the before shot:

And after a bunch of demolition, multiple tries to fit, and an infinite amount of shimming and adjusting, the after shot:

The siding will be re-done to unify the whole wall, but now we are in position to put a deck out back.

When's the next long weekend? :-)
