My brother, Jerome, wants the update.

So the update is this.. we have had consultation on sistering the joists, and restructuring the stairs since they were built incorrectly in the first place!

At the moment we are getting quotes on the roof, the furnace/ac, removal of the chimney and flooring options for the main living/dining room. Windows are also on tap, we have had quotes on that too!

This weeked (Easter Weekend) we had door-frame destruction going on.  The plumber didn't seem to have done anything this week, but since I wasn't the last to speak to him, I don't actually know if he was meant to.

The upstairs back bedroom and 90 degree-angle adjacent bathroom door were both barely 6 feet high.  This is due to the eaves of the roof, which start at approx. five feet.  Now the doors don't bother me, but that's because I end at about 5 feet!

Andreas and I worked Friday afternoon tearing down the 2x4's and holding an old door in place to reorient to two doors.   Saturday was spent away from the house, at Home Depot actually reviewing door options.  Of course, the ones we want are not in stock, and have to be special ordered.   We left that for another day and chose the shower control for the upstairs bathroom.

Friday we also de-nailed the bathroon floor (I thought it was de-nailed already but I've decided they multiply on the days we're not there)  and removed the excess rotting or otherwise damaged floor.  Then I measured and Andreas cut the plywood to replace but we did not lay it down.  Too much plumbing in the way.  What was that guy's number again?

Sunday we reviewed the stairs - or should I say, the structural needs of extending the stairs.  They are currently resembling a ship's ladder so we will be fixing that!  Since there are a number of joists that need reinforcing, not to mention some that have a bit of sag  (this house is around 90 yrs old!) we are next going to do some work on the joists.   That meant the living room dumping ground was in need of a major clean up, since during demo anything that was to be salvaged ended up there.

Erin came around to help and now we have a very neatly arranged room full of wood sorted by type and size...and it's all in the back addition so it's out of the way.   The living room and dining room are now clear for work!   Believe it or not, there was still a baseboard and some plaster/lath that needed removing.  Erin & I made short work of that!
